Phils Sign Cairo
The Phillies signed infielder Miguel Cairo to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cairo is inventory for the Phillies, meaning he likely isn’t the right-handed bat they’re looking for. The Phillies remain interested in Nomar Garciaparra, who would be that right-handed bat off the bench. But the sense I get is that Garciaparra is unlikely to sign.

Sign Nomar! Anybody!
Todd…..Do you think the deal with Nomar, is he’s still not sure if he wants to keep playing?
The ZO ZONE is back baby!!!!! NICE!!!!
This is my first post on Zo Zone. But I read Todd’s Inquirer blog pretty regularly (and posted irregularly as betsy72). So excited that I found this! By the way, I don’t think the Phills should sign anyone else just yet. Let’s see what the guys they already have will do. Maybe Jeff Jenkins will do well early and they can trade him for a good righty, not a washed-up Nomar.
oops – Geoff, not Jeff. I should just stick to last names:)
These are both really smart players…they will both be cautious with their recovery so I think we have reason to hope for opening day!

oops…meant to leave that comment on the Utley / Feliz entry :O) Well, you get the idea :O)
Is signing Cairo another favor that we owe Gillick?
