Bruntlett's Beard

bruntlett.jpgThe fine folks at The 700 Level found a picture of Eric Bruntlett holding up a bass while fishing a couple weeks ago at Clear Lake in California.

Bruntlett was tagging along with the folks at TackleTour.com. A guy he knows, knows the guys who run that Web site.

What interested me about this wasn’t necessarily that Bruntlett is a fisherman. Many ballplayers spend their offseasons hunting, fishing, etc. What interested me is that many fans seemed to be enamored with Bruntlett’s beard.

Comments at The 700 Level included:

“Best. Beard. Ever.”

“That beard is made of pure awesome.”

“He looks like Yukon Cornelius.”

“He has a long career after baseball as a deck hand on one of the Deadliest Catch boats.”

So it was with some disappointment when Bruntlett arrived in camp this week with his beard noticeably shorter than in the picture.

So, what happened to the beard, Eric?

“It was nasty,” he said. “You saw the pictures. It was curly. It was a little scary. It was too much. I don’t want to scare people here. They probably wouldn’t have let me in the place.”

hahahaha seriously he should have kept it. i remember me and all my friends during the playoffs wouldn’t shut up about his beard. theres just something mesmerizing about it.

I was more enamored by him scoring the winning runs in games 4 & 5. Man, ya gotta be loyal to this site to log in….3 minute login today. Maybe it’s time for MLB to upgrade the Atari they use for a server to a Playstation…LOL.

That’s right up there with the handlebar mustache mugshot from last year.

His beard looked like it belonged on someone who should be fishing! lol!

Whata joyful picture! For some reason that beard looks good on him….other men it would like he said “bit scary”

Jimmymack: I had the same trouble yesterday! Really surprises me that a national website would have these problems?!?

A slow day in Clearwater, Todd? :-)

And I think you’re losing fans with this sign-in issue. In fact, the whole site is loading slow for me, today.

Who should we contact?

I just got logged- in in only 3 seconds again. We know Zo is working on the web guys, so I have high hopes it will be resolved. It’s either a bandwidth issue on their end, they have servers that need to handle the traffic better or the authenication process needs some tweaking. I’m available for a not so small consulting fee…LOL. It’s not on our end, we are spread all over as far as providers. Back to baseball…I really want to see how Donald does this spring, we know Bruntlet makes the team for sure. If Chase or Pedro has to hit the 15 day list to start the season, I’d rather see Donald get the shot than any of the busload of infielders we have in camp.

Maybe MLB doesn’t realize how “groupies” Todd Z has and we’re giving their servers a run 4 their $$ (LOL!!)

I agree it would be interesting have the young new talent get some game time and see how they do. I liked when they brought up Happ, Marson, etc towards the end of last season. It was fun seeing the future players show their stuff.

Thought people might like to know, the final Vegas odds to win the 2009 World Series were published this morning:
Yankees 11-4
Cubs 11-2
Red Sox 15-2
Phillies15-2
Dodgers 17-2
Mets 10-1
Rays 12-1
Angels 13-1
Cards 18-1
Brewers 30-1
Braves 35-1
Marlins 40-1
Orioles, Royals, Nats, Mariners, Padres, 100-1
Pirates 150-1
Interesting numbers to translate 11-4 odds are like 2 3/4 to 1

I am also enamored with Bruntlett’s beards. About what fan activities that ballplayers do, I swim a lot and look for wild fruits in the forests. Ballgame is just amazing and tension filled hence when one has the time, the person should spend it carefully. – Jordan
