Bad Directions

gps.jpgThe Phillies had just started their team stretch this morning at McKechnie Field in Brandenton, when players unexpectedly broke out in applause.

What the … ?

They were cheering because Jimmy Rollins had just arrived. Asked about Rollins’ tardiness, Charlie Manuel, who benched Rollins once last season for showing up late to Shea Stadium, didn’t sound too upset.

“He got the wrong directions to get here,” Manuel said. “He stopped, asked a cop for directions and the cop sent him to (the Pirates’ minor-league complex). I believe him. He’s fine. But at the same time I do expect people to be here on time. That is a rule.”

Some might be wondering why Rollins didn’t take the team bus. To be honest, very few veterans take the team bus during spring training road games. Once they’re pulled from the game, they are allowed to shower, eat and head home before the game is over. Only the younger kids and non-roster invitees take the bus back.

Manuel is looking forward to seeing Carlos Carrasco and J.A. Happ begin the competition for the fifth starter’s job tomorrow against the Toronto Blue Jays at Bright House Field. Well, he’s kind of looking forward to it.

“I’m interested, but I’m interested to see where all of our pitchers are at,” he said.

give us the low down on the two pitchers who blew the game and the LF who got the two hits. Impresions of the game etc> how do we look (I know, we just lost 8-2 so how good can we look?)

Ah, J.Roll…….Ya gotta love him. :-)
Maybe he should think about taking the team bus to all the games. Isn’t that why he was late to Shea?
Sounds like Besenious caused most of the damage for the Phils. Of course, we weren’t hitting well either. Good to see Ibanez contribute with an RBI single.

This game tomorrow is not going to be on 1210, correct? Then where I can I listen to it tomorrow (for free)? Nowhere?

Hey Todd, is there any possibility that the Phils will ever get a live chat going on their website?? Clinton, nj

Hey Norma, anybody else here from the original ZoZone??

Hello clintonnj! Its Karen A! Several ZoZone “groupies” have joined Todd Z’s new MLB blog. Jimmymack, Jeff G, Sully, DebinDixie just to name a few. Still haven’t heard from Truth who made a few comments on David Murphy’s blog “High Cheese”. Hopefully as the season gets underway more will join.

Hey Karen, I’ve posted once or twice here and saw Norma on here before. Good to see some people shift over here to follow the Z man. I wish the Phillies or MLB in general would get a live chat going. They have it in the NFL. Its nice, because its instant. I dont mind blogging, but the chat is waaaay better. Anyway, the Phils have to do better than last year. Remember the Phils bats went ice cold for over 2 months or so last year, and the only thing that saved them was pitching, go figure. No regular hit over .300..that MUST change. Although, Utley and maybe J-roll and the only real threats to hit over .300, maybe Ibanez and Vic too. I cant wait to find out!!!!

Hey, Clinton!!! Welcome! It’s about time! LOL!

I can’t think of anyone else, other than who Karen mentioned. But who knows who might be lurking?! Since we had to use our MLB.com screen names, there may be some folks here who are unrecognizable. Jeff G. is now fan_in_jeruselum. Oooops! Sorry, Jeff! Hope it’s not a secret. LOL!

There’s also been some sign-in issues that are still being resolved, so that might be keeping some fans away.

TRUTH….Where are you, buddy???? We miss you!

Hey Norma, whats shakin’? You getting ready to defend the title? And speak for yourself Norma, KEEP TRUTH AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, good to see people coming over to the “new” Zo Zone. Welcome back, clintonnj!

Ugh, I can’t handle the Truth.

Well, my invite to Truth was a little tongue-in-cheek. ;-) But you have to admit, he’d add a little fire to the blog.

This time next week, I’ll be basking in the sun at Brighthouse Field!

Maybe the team can advance JRoll some money to buy a Garmin portable GPS. And welcome aboard Clinton.

You don’t think the officer was a closet ‘Devil’ Rays fan and thought giving poor directions would be a cool prank to test Charlie’s adherence to rules this early in the season?

Ooops! TWO weeks from today, I’ll be at Brighthouse Field. I guess I’m not too anxious, huh?
