Going Red and Gold
Phinally Philly found earlier this month that the Phillies will be wearing an altered home uniform Opening Night on April 5 at Citizens Bank Park.
Gold trim will surround the numbers and letters on the jerseys. But here’s a little additional information: they will be worn Opening Day only, and eventually will be auctioned off to benefit Phillies charities. The Phillies also will be wearing a World Series champions 2008 patch on their home uniforms all season. They will not wear the patch on the road.

It’s funny seeing one blog get credited for finding the story, when said blog found the information from another site. Just saying is all. UniWatch actually first had the tidbit on the uniforms.

Yeah, that is ALOT of cheddar. And what I don’t like is the site doesn’t say what the material is and the handling instructions. I don’t want to buy something I’m just gotta sweat to death in and then can’t machine wash. Still..it’s a once in a lifetime thing…I’m tempted….

I would assume that they’re the polyster type shirts. Usually the cotton ones are the t-shirts.
I did see this some time ago, and had the same thought then that I have now: Any reason the sample drawing has Burrell’s #5??

Personally, I think the Phillies should make a WFC patch and sell it separately. That way you could add it on to your shirt if you wanted. And if they are polyster, well I hate those. They don’t breath at all. Man if that’s what the players have to play in, I feel bad for them.
Rumore has it Zolecki is participating in the next Phillies Roundtable discussion during the All-Star break.
I didn’t notice till looking on the website that the pinstripes are also gold. Very cool. I’m interested.
I gave my nephews Utley WS shirts that were made of that 100% polyester material for Christmas, and they bitched about it. Ingrates.
I’m in for a WFC patch too. I know somebody who can make it.

debindixie, et all: The new jersey is made of the Cool Base material and I have a few jerseys with this material: – tag says 100% polyester shell; side panels: 82% nylon, 18% spandex. The side panels (under the arms down the length of the jersey) are supposed to help ventilate the jersey. This new material is more comfortable than the old stuff and feels lighter. I have machine washed them and line-dried and they are fine. Would not put in in the dryer though. Hope that helps!

I wish I could buy one of those jerseys. The problem is I live in LA and in the last year, I’ve had two Phillies caps stolen. I can only imagine what Dodgers fans would “accidently” spill on a $200 shirt…..sore losers.
erichh1: as per last post I picked up the local phone line and talked the the Big Boss. He’s agreed that the Phillies are now officially the Holy Land’s team!!
AS for who is the best SS in the game, if you combine offence and defence I still say J-roll is the best overall SS in the game today. He’s the best D I think and one of the top 5 O. Rameriz and that Mutt ate just hitters standing in the SS posistion in teh field. Jeter was a great player and will (and should be) a Hofer, but today, he’s nowhere near one of the premier SS in teh game
