Mets Interested in Sheffield?
The New York Daily News reported today that the Mets could be kicking around Gary Sheffield‘s name.
They wouldn’t, wouldn’t they?
But it sounds like the Mets could have the same problem the Phillies have: finding enough playing time to make Sheffield happy.
Sheffield’s agent Rufus Williams said last night that they haven’t ruled out the Phillies, but it seems if Sheffield can find a place where he can play regularly that is where he would go. But if Sheffield can’t find a job where he is going to play every day he would have to consider playing in a reserve role.

Hmm, sounds like a fine fit to me?! Let the Mets have another headache to deal with (I heard on Sports Radio this a.m. that their pitching coach thought Oliver Perez gained weight @ the WBC. How odd to announce this about one of your pitchers especially since he arrived at spring training “in shape” and then after 3 wks of WBC looked a bit chunky?!?)
Can’t wait for Sunday,Sunday, Sunday!!

Funny – I said yesterday that the only reason the Phils were interested was to fake the Mets into taking him.
The Mets getting him would be great for the Phillies.

yeah – mine had a freeze too.
I want a brooding Shef on the Mets bench. Works for me.
The Mets can have him! That’s exactly what they need too…a huge ego and a huge distraction. Thought they’d had enough with Reyes? They could always use more :O) Crossing my fingers and toes…

Looks like you’re getting your wish, Phils Phollowers. He wants significant playing time, the Mets would give him that. He might be interested in another team if that team guaranteed second year. No way on this Earth that’s happening.
