Hi, I’m President Barack Obama, and I’d like to invite the 2008 World Series champion Phillies to meet me,my wife and the Bidens at the White House next Tuesday.

Hope you can make it.

Yours truly,

President Obama

Personally, I think President & Mrs. Obama are just too cool for school. What an honor for our team (especially Rollins who campaigned for President Obama).

You get to go Todd? How’s that work for the local media?

Maybe Monty can get some bail out money for Eaton’s and Jenkins salary. Todd, just the current 25 man roster/front office going or who?

I’m glad that Mr. Obama has invited the Phillies to the White House. I’ve been a Phillies fan since 1951 and that’s meant a lot of misery, partially cancelled by the teams of 1980 and 2008.
I was thinking back to the teams of the 50’s and their slow decline from the Whiz Kids to the worst team in baseball, and
I wondered why it happened. Here are six reasons:
Giants: Mays
Dodgers: Campanella
Reds: Frank Robinson
Pirates: Clemente
Cubs: Banks
Braves: Aaron.
The Phillies were bad in large part because the organization was racist.
That’s over now. But maybe not over in the larger society, where certain people regard Obama with rage. Perhaps it’s
not racist. Perhaps Obama will turn out to be a president at
the level of Willie Mays. Perhaps he will function more at the level of Choo Choo Coleman. Patience; lets wait and see.
