Phillies Sign Walker

The Phillies have signed right-hander Tyler Walker to a Minor League contract.

He will report to extended Spring Training this weekend in Clearwater.

Walker, 32, went 5-8 with a 4.56 ERA in 65 appearances last season for the Giants. The Mariners signed him as a free agent in January before they released him March 29.

Something tells me that the Mets will beat him up.

What’s the deal with the Phils picking up players discarded by the Giants? Does Dubee see something fixable about them?

Dubee appears to be able to work magic with some guys, but it won’t do him any good in Clearwater. I guess there’s nothing wrong with having yet another major league arm in the wings but I doubt this guy will ever pitch for the Phillies. I would think Majewski is next in line if they need another relief pitcher. I would bet they will be sending Happ down at some point to start instead of rotting in the bullpen.
