Phan52,

Here’s a riddle for you,

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing the best team in the baseball in a 7 game series; first team with 4 victories wins. The best team in baseball has 3 wins. The Phillies have 1. How many games must the Phillies win before the best team in baseball wins 1????

Like your chances?

“I Just can;t wait for it to end.” – Cole “I have no heart” Hamels

Hey Jimmy “Nostradumbass” Rollins, how’s that prediction working out? Better yet, have you figured out Rivera yet? Hmmmm….you are highly suspect of being a gigantic B.S. artist!

No matter what happens tomorrow, the Phillies had another amazing year from an amazing group of players, and I’ll love them forever whether they win 90 games or 50. With elite prospects basically knocking down the MLB door, and a core of players that have another few years left in them, I can’t be disappointed losing to a team as good as the Yankees in the WS.

It ain’t over yet, of course.
Seriously though get rid of Brad Lidge, just eat the salary.

While Cole is catching a lot of heat, this series is a good demonstration of the team’s weaknesses. Tonight, the Brad Lidge we knew from all year showed up again. Also, J-Roll had a disappointing season at the plate as he has in this series. But, as the team did at times this year – most of the offense has gone south as Howard is going for the dubious WS strikeout record and Ibanez can’t be far behind. The team batting average with RISP is abysmal. They continue to battle and will to the very last out against MO, but it is looking like the Yanks’ 100+ wins was not a fluke.

As the team sits on the edge of elimination, it makes me wonder who we will be seeing in a Phils uniform for the last time: Bruntlett, Myers, Stairs and Dobbs come to mind and what about Feliz and Park? They have a good nucleus to make another run next year and let’s hope Happ gets his start in next year’s playoffs.

If I were still a kid, I would have cried my eyes out tonight. I used to take losing so hard, but being an Eagles fan has toughened me up for this stuff. It’s just a game. The classic 80’s miniseries, V, is on the SyFy Channel right now, and that is cheering me up. It came out the same year that the Phils won the first game in the World Series and then went on to lose 4 straight: 1983. Hopefully Cliffie will help us avoid repeating that tonight.

Everything is very open with a very clear explanation of
the issues. It was definitely informative. Your site is useful.
Many thanks for sharing!
