Game 6 Lineup

Here is the Phillies’ lineup for Game 6 of the World Series:

  1. Jimmy Rollins, SS
  2. Shane Victorino, CF
  3. Chase Utley, 2B
  4. Ryan Howard, 1B
  5. Jayson Werth, RF
  6. Raul Ibanez, DH
  7. Pedro Feliz, 3B
  8. Ben Francisco, LF
  9. Carlos Ruiz, C

Of course, Pedro Martinez is on the mound.

Charlie Manuel said Victorino (bruised right index finger) told him he can throw and hit, but he will be monitored closely. … Manuel said everybody is available to pitch tonight, other than Cliff Lee. I suspect we won’t see Cole Hamels, but Manuel didn’t rule out the possibility. … Feliz is hitting seventh because he went 1-for-3 with a double against Andy Pettitte in Game 3.

Well, Phans, seems we are HEERE AT THE WALL today….a little “National Treasure” thrown into the “National Pastime”. Philly comes to New York’s Cathedral…do we have enough fight in us to take the treasure?!

We are here with our backs against the wall today with the opportunity to show the world this team is no one-hit wonder…we are going to play and win today. True Champions flourish under such pressure!

I have confidence in the guys. The Yankees are a very good team, but I don’t see the intangibles that the Phillies have, and the manager made some bad moves with their pitching to keep us in it, when they had a distinct advantage. Just keep Mo out of the mix and we’ll be fine. Score early and often.

Mo was batting fifth for the Yankees tonight.

jensenohana: What is this “We” you speak of?

You know what is awesome? Losing to essentially one player who LITERALLY can’t play baseball. He can sit there and swing but can not play defense. The American League is awesome! Place where old *** broken down mules go to die.

The MVP will probably be a guy who never took the field with a glove on his hand. The DH is a pathetic joke. It’s not baseball, but it is what it is. The Phillies weren’t properly prepared for it with their typical NL bench. They should have dropped a pitcher (Bastardo?) for another hitter, probably Mayberry. Francisco stinks. 0-fer the postseason. He and Bruntlett are the righthanders available on the bench? Sad.
Great season though. Two WS appearances in a row is pretty sweet. More to come, I’m sure.

As I sit here disappointed, I have to admit that upon reflection I am amazed that the Phillies even got this far and were in most of these games against a team with a bloated payroll. Think about it – the worst closer in baseball, a decimated bullpen that had its bright spots (Park, Eyre and Madson most of the time), a pitful season from Rollins (which continued in offseason – yet, still love that hit against the Dodgers), and a horrible bench (why wasn’t Dobbs replaced because of the flu?). Then I think about a couple of the main reasons this team was able to accomplish so much – Blanton and Happ and yet these two guys were also rans in the postseason picture. I still think Happ should’ve got the ball tonight – yeah, he didn’t fair too well in relief against zilla, but starting the game could’ve been better. He had the best road ERA in baseball and was ROY?? It was so much to expect from Pedro, and I always said use Hamels in game 2 (it’s a loss anyway) and use Pedro in game 3 and maybe we’re up 2-1 since the offense woke up in game 3. Oh well, maybe none of those would’ve changed anything, but it was still a great year. Go Phils, rework that bullpen, get some bench and straighten out Hamels and we can be back here next year!!

As a Dodger fan, the lesser of two evils won tonight. But then, the Dodgers have the McCourts, the most evil of them all. S0 L.A. is the real autumn loser. No crying about the DH, phans, you had your Broxton killer, Stairs, ready and able all series. Talk about all hit, no field. The Yankees, for all their cash, won with the pedigree of Jeter, Pettitte and Rivera. The king is dead, long live the king. Is it February yet?

Hey Phan52,

You hater. hahahahhahahaha World F-ing Champs suckaaaaaa. I just hope you scrubs treated our trophy with respect while you rented it out. World F-ing champs. Imma say it again. World F-ing champs. Kiss the rings loserssssss

How does it feel that no matter what your organization does, the Yankees will always have about $100 Million extra in payroll to play with. Just do somethin better with the luxury tax we pay you second rate clowns next year

Always love the trolls, aka sore winners. How’s it feel to have that $100 million extra and waste it almost every year? Oh well, congrats to the Yanks. Jeter, Andy and Mo”s days are numbered so enjoy it while you can.

tcd…..What are you? 12 years old? LOL!!!
Thank you Phillies, for an awesome season!!! Pitchers and Catchers report in 112 days!

Our billions will always take care of whatever pieces retire my friend. It’s just sad that Cliff Lee could have been a Yankee this year, and had a ring. O well. It was just as sweet w/out him. Back to your trials and tribs with the mets. hahahhahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Muleman: Point well taken…I could never know what it would be like to be in their shoes…and I’m sad that, for all the fight I know they have in them, they had to relinquish the title tonite. I liked Chase’s remarks afterwards that reflect how well they played to get to Game 6 and that many never do get there. To me, each one of our guys is a true Champion and I hope they have a wonderful offseason. I’ve enjoyed this blog alot and have learned much about the game by listening to those of you who really know and understand. Thanks for putting up with my cheerleading and novice comments. It actually means a lot to me.
