Biddle Agrees to Terms

Jesse Biddle understands it could be a few years before he pitches for the Phillies, but wearing a Phillies jersey and cap this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park he could not help but feel he is ready to strike out the Florida Marlins lineup.

Biddle vs. the National League East could happen eventually, but the Phillies think it might be 2014 at the earliest before it does.

Biddle, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound left-hander who the Phillies selected in the first round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, agreed to terms on a contract worth $1.16 million. He will travel to Clearwater, Fla., next week to begin workouts in extended Spring Training and is expected to be in the rotation for the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Phillies when their schedule opens later this month.

If everything goes well, the Phillies think Biddle could be in the big leagues in four to five years.

Biddle’s timetable?

“I’m getting the start tonight,” he joked. “Roy Halladay is now the No. 2.”

We’ll see.

Welcome to the Phamily Jesse ! See you in 2015 or sooner !

GOt to love his attitude and the Phillies realistic plans. TO want to be better then DOc is what we need in young pitchers and to allow them time to mature and be ready is what we need from the Phillies. HOpefully both plans come together and we have a future ace…..

Todd – A lot of times the first pick or number 1 draft kid fizzles out as they get closer to the big time, and then see others emerge, how about an update on some of those others that we pivcked too, like Perci Garner or Scott Frazier…

With Wheeler and McCarthy last night Biddle appeared confident without being cocky. Imagine, first job out of high school, employer hands you a check for $1.16 million and says, “Here is a little something to help you get by before you get the big bucks”. As another great American said on a different occasion, “Only in America”.

outside, once was enough. You really don’t think that TOdd checked the blog between 6:00-7:00 am do you?? Chill or look at the Inky’s articles on them

Ahhhhhhhhhh, that’s right, it is fij’s turn to look after little Todd.

fij – If i thought Todd was checking the blog I would have posted completely different wording, it’s one of those glitches that happens on the blogs where you post it, the page telling you an error occured comes up and so you go back and do it again and then realize that it posted it twice, but it managed to do it in the blackhole of mlblogs, you should know that the time shown is not always the time posted to the comment… who cares anyway Todd probably won’t even notice….

‘Phillies’Outside : you don’t have to explain anything to any self-anointed Mufti on this site. Todd is a sports writer, for crying out loud. It is not as if he has to work for a living.

pherrisphain: yeah I know, but you’d be surprised what I’d write when bored awaiting a game to start..LOL then when it starts wishing it hadn’t WTF 12 runs geez
