Gillies Pleads Not Guilty

The lawyer for prospect Tyson Gillies entered a written plea of not guilty this week in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.

Officers for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gillies on Aug. 20 in Clearwater, Fla., on a felony charge of cocaine possession. He is free on $2,000 bond. The Phillies previously said in a statement, “Because this is an open case, we will not comment further at this time.”

Gillies’ lawyer, J. Kevin Hayslett, could not be reached for comment. Hayslett has represented high-profile clients inclding Hulk Hogan‘s son, Nick Bollela.

This case is going to end up being decided by a jury who have to figure out if the cocaine was Gillies’ or if someone else who was put in the back of the car ditched the coke and the cops are trying to cover up a slip up of their own. He should win this one because the cops can’t say for sure that it wasn’t in the car before Gillies was there. But who knows?…..

This should never go to a jury. A good lawyer could and should just get this pled down to a misdemeanor.
