Contreras’ Closer Music

Jose Contreras will hear Jay-Z‘s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” when he enters games in save situations at Citizens Bank Park. He chose the song earlier this week. He heard some KC & the Sunshine Band last Friday.

This is much better.

Jimmy Rollins will be featured on HBO’s Real Sports on April 19 at 10 p.m.

The work you do is exceptional. I had the pleasure of exchanging a few words with you at a Phils game last year and I appreciate the kindness and sincerity you show to your fans. I am an inspiring sports fanatic looking to get into the sports broadcasting field some time in the near future. I’m only a freshman in college but there is still work I can be doing to reach my dream. I was wondering if you could offer me any types of advice to help me get to my goal. Hope to hear from you soon, and I’ll sure as hell keep reading up on your submissions. Thanks!,

Hey freshman, I assume you are an “aspiring” sports fanatic, not an “inspiring” one.

Hey — where can we find a list of the songs for the whole team? A friend seems to think that Francisco’s music is a Pearl Jam song! Thanks so much! Each year I like to know if there are any changes. I miss hearing Kashmir, already!!

Todd, does this mean contreras is being named our perminent closer?

I suppose the bullpen pitcher with the best “stuff” should be the closer. Ideally, you’d want a guy who can throw at least a 95 mph fastball, like Lidge USED TO, with a wicked offspeed pitch. Contreras’ splitter is nasty + and an outpitch with two strikes on a hitter. So far he’s done the job. Madson’s waiting in the wings, waiting to take over for Lidge next year anyway. You know he wants to prove he can close THIS year.
