Crazy Weekend Fact
From Elias Sports Bureau: Ryan Howard doubled in the go-ahead runs in the top of the 11th inning Saturday after striking out in each of his first four plate appearances in the Phillies’ 4-2 victory over the Padres. It was only the second time in the last 10 seasons a player knocked in the winning run in extra innings after going 0-for-4 or worse with a strikeout in each at-bat prior to his final plate appearance.
The last player to do that?
Howard, who singled in the winning run in the top of the 10th inning against Washington after striking out in his first four plate appearances on Sept. 22, 2007.

Baseball is so much more glorious in the strange hands of Elias. They lift the sport to a quirky new level and I love it.

I don’t mind if the old Ryan Howard (199 Ks) comes back….. as long as the power numbers come back too (140+ RBIs and 40+ HRs).
