Victorino Begins Suspension Tonight
Major League Baseball reduced Shane Victorino’s suspension to two games.
He will begin serving it tonight.
MLB initially suspended Victorino three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for his role in a bench-clearing brawl against the San Francisco Giants on Aug. 5 at AT&T Park. Victorino spoke with the commissioner’s office earlier this week to plead his case, which resulted in him having his suspension reduced one game.

I wonder how much the bribe was….
What a cynic.
One game I can understand. More is piling on, especially if that catcher got nothing.
Yeah, seeing Whiteside jump around looking for a fight (and then trying to tackle Polly) and not getting any suspension was a raw deal for Vic. According to Torre, it was Vic pushing the ump out of the way that led to the suspension.
The only silver lining in this whole thing is it gives Mayberry a chance to start. He’s been one of many pleasant surprises this season.
Junior sure took advantage of getting a chance to play last night. It seems to be a shame that he’s made a case for himself to be an everyday player and he’d be on the bench if not for Shane’s suspension.
