Halladay Getting Closer

It is painfully clear the Phillies need Roy Halladay back in the rotation as soon as possible.

He is getting closer.

He threw his second bullpen session before tonight’s game against the Mets at Citi Field. Halladay threw 56 pitches after throwing 33 Friday in Miami. Halladay could throw a few more bullpen sessions and pitch a few simulated games – skipping a rehab assignment altogether – before rejoining the rotation shortly after the All-Star break.

It would not be a surprise to see Halladay back as early as the July 16-18 series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, although the Phillies are keeping Halladay’s next steps to themselves. But Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee said based on the way Halladay has thrown the ball he believes the strained right latissimus dorsi that landed him on the disabled list in May played a major role in his struggles this season.

So fans should see the old Halladay when he is back?

“I don’t know where he’ll be when he gets back,” Dubee said. “I hope he’s close to what he used to be, yeah. But the signs are leading that he’s doing very well.”

Dubee hopes Halladay will be where he use to be? As a famous Phillie would have exclaimed, “Oh, brother!”.

So what? Rebuild with new GM. Trade only for prospects or fill-in players & don’t sign any big contracts. Look at what the Cubs are doing.

Yeah, let’s be like the Cubs. They’re playing .375 ball. That’s a goal.

The Cubs? Really? That’s your goal?
BTW, I have no doubt that Halladay will be Halladay. Hardest worker in MLB.

I’ve never seen a ballclub that swings at so many pitches that are not strikes. If I ‘m a pitcher & I’m facing the Phils , I’m happy as hell. Reason being I am sure the Phils are gonna get themselves out. They hate to take walks. Some of these Phils need to go– Rollins , Victorino , Bastardo, & please Mayberry!

Halladay will be Halladay. As I’ve said before once Howard returns to the line up, I think everyone around him will start hitting better (i.e. Victorino, Pence). Let’s hope Utley continues to hit and also that Chooch continues to have a monster year in the 2nd half.

when Howard is back, where are they going to bat Ruiz? 3rd before Howard?(and what do you do with Utley?) 5th (and what do you do with Pence?). 6th?

Does anyone really give a shit who bats where when Howard gets back? FIJ you apparently have too much free time on your hands if you have enough free time to stir up this bullshit.

It will be a nice problem to have deciding on the batting order between Utley, Howard and Chooch instead of Pierre, Wigginton and Mayberry.
