Nothing to See Here? Keep Moving?

Is there anything to worry about here?

Ruben Amaro Jr. said today left-hander Cole Hamels’ shoulder is fine. CSNPhilly.com reported Hamels had some shoulder soreness late in the 2012 season and early in the offseason. But the Phillies shut down Hamels’ throwing program for a couple weeks and has been fine since, Amaro said.

“We really weren’t concerned,” Amaro said. “If we were concerned or had any concern then he would have or would be seeing a doctor. We had none of that. If there are problems that come up in Spring Training then we’ll deal with them. But there is no indication that Cole has an issue right now.”

The Phillies hope so. Hamels, 29, signed a six-year, $144 million contract extension last summer and they need him healthy if they expect to return to the postseason in 2013.

So the Phillies $144 million investment has or had a sore shoulder but the Phillies do not have him checked out by a doctor? Did I hear Ruin correctly?

No, they are saying that he is not currently under a doctor’s care. They believe it was sore, he was checked out, recommeded rest was given, and that he’s fine.

Did you read what Ruin said? Let me refresh your memory “We really weren’t concerned,” Amaro said. “If we were concerned or had any concern then he would have or would be seeing a doctor. We had none of that.” But then again, Ruinese isn’t my first language.

I don’t trust this medical/training staff on anything they say.

It only matters if it happens during the season.

So if Hamels arrives at spring training with a sore shoulder, it doesn’t matter?

Since “he’s been fine since” they shut him down, that isn’t going to happen, is it? I suppose you’re just being yourself there, right?

muleman, you wrote, “It only matters if it happens during the season”. So I guess it doesn’t matter if it happens during spring training? I suppose you’re being yourself there, right?

LOL!! Nothing changes around here, does it?
29 days, folks.

The fact that you chimed in proves your point.

You got that right, phan52 !

The sit and wait until spring training approach doesn’t make sense to me. You need to be pro-active with these things, so we don’t run in to another Utley-esque ordeal.

Ever stop to think the reporter failed to elaborate on the “shut him down for two weeks and he is fine now” line? Like they shut him down back in November for two weeks and he is back on it and doing fine now? If he was hurt I am sure Cole’s puppetma$ter wife would have him to the doctor by now.

Why attack his wife you asshole?

Nice to see you are in mid-season form, Pherris!

Erich, so it is appropriate to attack Hamels’ wife?

The interesting part is that moving around in Ottawa, you gradually get your experience and know what works and does not work. Thanks for sharing this information.
