Revere Breaks Right Foot

Ben RevereThis could not come at a worse time for the Phillies.

Phillies centerfielder Ben Revere broke his right foot during Game 1 of today’s doubleheader against the White Sox at Citizens Bank Park. He will go on the disabled list and be evaluated Monday by a specialist.

Revere entered the doubleheader hitting .347 since the end of April, which was the sixth-best batting average in baseball in that stretch.

Revere fouled a ball off his foot during his plate appearance in the 11th inning of a 5-4 loss to the White Sox.

God teases us with success and takes away a hot bat. Thanks, baseball lords.

Revere goes on the DL so who comes up? Hopefully someone not named Michael Martinez

or even worse, putting lance nix in the lineup.

I warmed up to start to like Ben Revere, but the first few months with him seemed like he was a minor leaguer that couldn’t hit it out of the infield.

Maybe this is a sign from the baseball gods, I don’t think Revere is our center fielder for the long term – we need more offense in terms of RBI’s so let’s go out and get a center fielder that is a stud – perhaps saying goodbye to a long timer, Chase or Jimmy perhaps?

at the beginning of the year when they sent darin ruf down and kept lance nix i was really pissed off. ruf did not have a great spring but it was not as bad as some of the other that they kept including nix. i would bet that if they had dump nix and kept ruf the record would be at least the complete opposite than it is now.

The complete opposite of their current record (48-48) is, well, 48-48. Good call.

i made that comment before they were even up. besides, i know you consider lance nix as one of the greatest players in the history of baseball, while other like myself consider him a complete waste of human flesh. i hope before they season is over he comes to the plate as a pinch hitter and does not strike out. talk about the mendoza line this guy makes mario mendoza look like george brett.

You know that I “consider Laynce Nix as one of the greatest players in history”…how? I said that…when?
Dude, you said something stupid and i called you on it. Just admit it.

How about bring up an OF let’s say Steve Susdorf — he can be forth OF type guy.
